Membership Application Form

We respect your privacy, and pledge not to make your information available to anyone outside the Freedom From Religion Foundation (our parent organization), Triangle Freethought Society’s Board of Directors, or leaders of TFS committees for which you have indicated interest, without your consent. However, to protect our organization and the security and privacy of all members, we require all information below to be provided and to be correct. Because of the high costs of postage, we rely mainly on our online channels for sharing information with and between members. Please provide the e-mail address you would like to use for communications from TFS.

There are two classes of membership: Voting and Associate. Associate members can attend general meetings, participate in our online discussion group, receive mailings, and work on committees/projects. Voting members must be members of our parent organization, the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF), and can vote on chapter policy, serve on the Board, or head committees. Voting members must be at least 16 years of age.

A self-described family unit is two members, with two votes. See the Bylaws for details about membership policies.

All members must adhere to the Triangle Freethought Society Bylaws, and must agree to uphold the TFS Mission:

  • I support the separation of church and state as guaranteed by the First Amendment.
  • I uphold the right of atheists and agnostics to enjoy the same rights as religious citizens.
  • I seek to challenge negative stereotypes by promoting a positive image of nontheism in our community.
  • I support science education, and the abolition of religious proselytizing and pseudo-science in schools.
  • I support a morality based on reason and compassion, not on unquestioning faith.
